   AI Beginner

   You start here

   You know individual terms and tools, but the overall picture is still forming. The biggest lever right now is the fundamentals: what a language model actually does, where it is reliable and where it is not.

2. 02

   AI Practitioner

   You already work with AI tools and make workable day-to-day decisions. What is still missing is the systematic side: which tool when, and how to verify results reliably.

3. 03

   AI Advanced

   You have an overview of the tool landscape, know the typical failure modes and can judge results properly. The next step is towards building: your own workflows, context and guardrails instead of one-off requests.

4. 04

   AI Integrator

   You no longer use AI tool by tool but connect tools into workflows: data moves from one system to the next and steps build on each other. The next lever is making those chains reliable and traceable.

   AI Architect

   You build things yourself — agents, automations, data paths. You know not just the tools but where they break: permissions, retries, failure modes. The next step leads away from technology towards the organisation.

Frequently asked questions about the AI Skills Check

What is the AI Skills Check?

A free knowledge test across six levels that build on each other. It checks what you know about AI — from basic terms such as tokens and context windows through prompting and data protection to agents, cost control and governance. Every answer is explained immediately and the result is broken down by topic.

What does the check cost, and do I need an account?

The check is free and needs no account. Name and email address are optional — the test runs through completely without any details. An email address is only needed to download a level's learning set as a PDF.

How long does one level take?

Around 10 to 15 minutes. Each level has 24 to 26 questions and the explanation appears right after each answer — so the test doubles as a short learning session. You can stop and start again at any time.

What distinguishes the six levels?

They follow the path from orientation to responsibility. Level 1 clarifies terms, level 2 everyday use of standard tools, level 3 confident handling of tool systems and complex prompting. From level 4 it is about connected workflows, level 5 about building your own agents, level 6 about governance, sovereignty and model strategy — the organisation rather than the individual.

Do I need prior knowledge, and where do I start?

No. Everyone starts at level 1, including people who already work with AI a lot — it is the only level open without a code. Reach 80 per cent and you get the unlock code for level 2, and so on. Every level comes with a learning set containing exactly the topic modules tested there.

What is the difference from the Digital Readiness Check?

The AI Skills Check measures what a person knows. The Digital Readiness Check measures how digitally mature a company is — across ten dimensions from strategy to cybersecurity, plus an automated analysis of the website. One is a knowledge test, the other an assessment for the organisation. Both are free and complement each other.

Do I get a certificate?

No, and that is deliberate. The check is an orientation, not an examined qualification — it tells you where you stand and what the next sensible learning step is. You get your result on a shareable page and, if you want, by email, broken down by topic.
